Older adults from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) face sociodemographic, linguistic, cultural and structural barriers in accessing health and aged care services. They present later for dementia assessment. In this interactive session will cover presentation and dementia assessment, communicating a diagnosis of dementia, and post-diagnostic care. There will be opportunities for clinical discussion and incorporate research evidence. Challenges include diversity within diverse groups, interpreting and interpreters, community beliefs around dementia, identifying the person responsible when a family shares care, and accessing appropriate services.
