Chris Bollen

Dr Chris Bollen is an Adelaide GP and director of Bollen Health (https://www.bollenhealth.com.au), a management consulting company helping General Practices to deliver safe and effective care. He has or is currently serving in roles with AMA (SA) Council of General Practice, RACGP SA&NT Faculty Board, Chairperson of SA Divisions, and CEO of Adelaide Northeast Division of General Practice, Medical Advisor ReturnToWorkSA, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare, Kidney Health Australia, Arthritis SA, Director GP Training at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Primary Care Advisor to University of Adelaide’s Frailty and Healthy Ageing Centre of Research Excellence. With an interest in improving both clinical and business outcomes in general practice, Chris has joined forces with his business partner Rod Buchecker to write and facilitate “The Practice Leadership Advantage” program. This program supports GP owners in this era of constant health reform to lead change, improve the patient experience and the quality of care plus reduce the risk of burnout of the team delivering the care. Together Chris and Rod have delivered the program to 15 Primary Health Networks and 400+ General Practices across Australia. Since 2015 he has also been educating health professionals around Australia on topics relating to better care of older people. In particular he has been co-facilitating full day workshops on the topic of “Timely Diagnosis of Dementia” for Dementia Australia and running education sessions on assessing cognitive and physical frailty. In addition, he has been involved in supporting health professionals to increase their knowledge of healthy ageing and improving the care of community dwelling older people. Together with Jane Bollen, they have delivered frailty early intervention programs across 5 Primary Health Networks to break down the many myths of ageing and to give health professionals new ways of engaging their older clients. A big focus is asking “What matters to you?” for every older person and working on ways to improve the function of older people to achieve their goals.
