Alicia Lu

Alicia Lu is a geriatrician based in Melbourne and a PhD candidate at the National Centre for Healthy Ageing, affiliated with Monash University. Her research explores how routinely collected Electronic Health Record (EHR) data can be used to develop artificial intelligence models for detecting dementia, with a focus on both structured and unstructured data sources. She is particularly interested in how clinician expertise can be embedded in the development of cutting-edge AI tools to ensure they are practical and clinically useful in real-world geriatric care. Alicia is a member of the ANZSGM Scientific and Research Committee, and has also established a graduate student journal club focused on medical AI to help bridge the gap between clinical and technical perspectives.
